THE RIVER BELOW THE SEA IN MEXICO

The phenomenon of 'river' in the sea Mexico feared could endanger marine life. Although still in the research, hydrogen sulfide (H2S) in the 'river imitation' is not dangerous to humans.

"H2S is acidic, when mixed with sea water or salt contained in sea water, so that gas can be harmful to marine life, but not dangerous for humans," said Minister of Technology Suharna Surapranata to VIVAnews.

It was delivered Suharna Surapranata in GEOSS opening at The 4th Asia - Pacific Symposium, Denpasar, Bali, Wednesday, March 10, 2010,

Nevertheless, Suharna admit natural phenomenon that is part of volcanology or the study of volcanoes, lava, magma and related geological phenomena.

"In Indonesia it has never happened, but it is very likely that this phenomenon occurs because it is a natural phenomenon, and so far the research on the underwater river has not been completed, and still perform thematic mapping," he explained.

As is known, the 'river' under the sea that occurred in the waters Cenote Angelita, Mexico, at a depth of 60 meters was not a real river.

Brownish color as the river water was a layer of hydrogen sulfide gas. But the brown color did not come from fresh water.

Mentioned, part of a similar brownish river water is the bottom layer of hydrogen sulfide or H2S gas. The gas usually produced from sewage.
